…she filled the kitchen with pots and pans, oils and beans and grains and berries, music and grace and heat, crumbs and puddles and spoons. She invited my children to sample her test batches – yes, she actually made test batches of things in preparation for the party – worked late into the night, and left everything spotless. She spoke of love and camping, travel and books, letter writing and dreams. If I hadn’t already begun thinking of cooking as something close to holy, she would have been my road to Damascus.

This was easily the best food that has ever been served at a wedding (at least one I attended!) Mary created an amazing menu that took into consideration all of the wildly varying tastes of my fiance and myself, not to mention our ever difficult parents. She tailored everything to us and even created special dishes just for Rebekah and I. Food aside, she was an incredible help when it came to coordinating. We had a litany of problems with the venue and she was busy problem solving even day of. To the point where she actually created new dishes on the fly to compensate for unexpected problems created by the venue. Genuinely could not recommend her enough. Food is out of this world and she is incredible.

Mary created a custom menu and drinks to make the food uniquely us. We had a mix of dietary restrictions, and everything was absolutely delicious. She is also so responsive, and was great to work with over the year before we got married, making adjustments throughout the year, doing multiple tastings, and doing all the heavy lifting for finding a commercial kitchen and supplies. I highly recommend her for any catering needs.

Visiting you and your beautiful restaurant is always such gift for us. As we were planning the past weekend, I had suggested to Clara that we go for a bike ride and out to lunch. When I asked her where she might like to go, she immediately said, “Newburyport — we have to go to Mandarava!” Warms my heart so much. Rarely do you hear a 7-year-old raving about kale salad and choosing a vegan organic cafe out of all the options available.
I just wanted to thank you and your team for a wonderful meal last night. We will be back! As vegans you know it can be a challenge to go out for dinner and often disappointing when we do…but to have a place in our own town that makes such amazing food is a real joy.
The house was glittering last night!!! I hope you got to take a minute outside looking back toward the house to see the amazing sight of chic partiers standing in the windows chatting and raising glasses with the golden glow of the lights silhouetting them in the Gothic arches. It is an image I will never forget. We had the best time. Wonderful conversations…and the chefs did the most incredible job.
